Quantitative or Qualitative?
You need to decide if your research project is quantitative, qualitative or mixed method.
A quantitative research deals with data that are numerical or that can be converted into numbers. For example, a research wanting to discover if an energy drink made someone run faster. This research would collect participants' running times, the participants' times would be the data, times are numerical. Therefore, this would be a quantitative research design.
A qualitative research involves collecting and analysing non-numerical data to understand concepts, opinions, or experiences. Therefore, it does not use numbers. For example, a research wanting to understand the reasons why participants choose to play the sports they play. The research would collect the opinions, feeling and / or experiences of the participants, the participants opinions, feeling and / or experiences would be the data, which is not numerical. Therefore, this would be a qualitative research design
